One routine, written by hand in both languages, for every pair we work in. Enough to see what carries over and what someone has to decide.
A pair of files tells you about syntax. It tells you nothing about which files nothing calls any more, or which job writes the record another one reads at 02:00. That part starts with reading your codebase.
